PACE WORK Lesson1 Form 8D 21/12/20

Monday, the twenty-first of December

T.: Today we are going to review division and solve some division problems.

Firstly, we should study some new concepts. (card #1). Read and translate them:

Division – the opposite of multiplication.

Divisor – the number being divided.

Dividend – the number doing the dividing.

Quotient – the answer in a division problem.

Remainder – the amount left over when one quantity cannot be exactly divided by another for 10 ÷ 3, the remainder is 1; the part of the quotient.

     T.: Now, answer my questions:

What is division?  Can we use multiplication to check division?

Give me the examples of division.

T.: You have just learnt some information about division.

Now, read the sentences and try to fill in the blanks (card #2):

  1. The number being divided is the …………..
  2. The ……………. is the number doing the dividing.
  3. The answer in a division problem is the …………….   .

T.: The second task is to write the quotient for each division problem. (card #3)

  1. 18 ÷9 =
  2. 24 ÷ 8 =
  3. 72 ÷ 9 =
  4. 15 ÷ 5 =
  5. 14÷  7 =
  6. 7 ÷ 1 =
  7. 8 ÷ 4 =
  8. 10 ÷ 2 =

T.: Work the division problem and write your answers. (card #4)
